Novus Innovation Corridor (Novus) is paving the way through an innovative public / private partnership between Arizona State University (ASU) and Catellus Development Corporation, a national leader in the development of urban mixed-use communities.
As higher education needs continue to change, Novus is ready to meet that challenge. Encompassing 355 acres adjacent to ASU’s Tempe Campus, Novus will be home to over 10 million square feet of Class A office space, retail, restaurants, hospitality, residential communities, and collegiate and professional athletic and entertainment venues.
Evolving Campus Expectations
Students, staff and campus partners are searching for amenities on or near university campuses. Novus Place, Novus’ main street retail district, will meet the needs of office goers, residents and visitors by providing over 275,000 square feet of fine dining, retail and entertainment space.
Sustainability
As the world has become more aware of humanity’s role in climate change and other environmental issues over time, universities are now expected to take environmental considerations into account for construction projects. As part of ASU, Novus is a perfect example of the school’s values. In 2022, ASU ranked first among U.S. higher education institutions, and second globally out of more than 1,000 institutions, for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
As a primary tenet, sustainability remains at the very core of Novus. In April of 2021, Novus received a Gold LEED-ND certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Neighborhood Development) from the U.S. Green Building Council, the second highest ranking possible from the U.S. Green Building Council and the only project in Arizona to hold this type of certification.
